Biography
Dr. Marc Spieker is Chief Operating Officer Commercial (COO-C) at E.ON SE, having transitioned from his role as Chief Financial Officer in June 2024. With over twenty years of dedicated service at E.ON, Spieker has been instrumental in positioning the company as Europe's leading energy infrastructure investor and a key player in the continent's energy transition. As CFO from 2017 to 2024, he oversaw exceptional financial performance, including achieving €9.4 billion in adjusted Group EBITDA in 2023 and expanding E.ON's capex plan by 35% to €6.4 billion in energy transition investments. Under his financial leadership, E.ON secured a credit rating upgrade from S&P Global to BBB+ and became one of Europe's largest green bond issuers with over €12 billion in outstanding green finance volume. Spieker successfully navigated the company through significant market challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and energy market volatility, while maintaining strong stakeholder confidence. His strategic vision has been central to E.ON's mission of 'Making New Energy Work' and the company's positioning as the playmaker of the European energy transition. With a PhD in Business Administration from WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management, Spieker combines deep academic knowledge with practical leadership experience.
