Biography
James von Moltke serves as Chief Financial Officer and President of Deutsche Bank AG, Germany's largest bank, where he has been instrumental in leading one of the most significant banking transformations in recent history. Born in Heidelberg, Germany, and holding dual German-Australian citizenship, von Moltke joined Deutsche Bank's Management Board in July 2017 and was promoted to President in March 2022, recognizing his exceptional leadership during the bank's turnaround. Under his financial stewardship, Deutsche Bank achieved its best half-year profits since 2015, significantly improved its cost-income ratio, and successfully reduced operating costs by approximately €1 billion per quarter compared to early 2018 levels. Von Moltke orchestrated the strategic winding down of over €200 billion in non-core assets, freeing up capital to enable €5 billion in shareholder returns. His expertise spans corporate finance, treasury management, and financial technology, developed through senior roles at prestigious institutions including Citigroup, where he served as Treasurer, Morgan Stanley, where he led the global Financial Technology advisory team, and J.P.
