Guillaume Faury
Biography
Guillaume Faury has served as Chief Executive Officer of Airbus SE since April 2019, leading Europe's largest aerospace and defense company through a transformative period of technological innovation and strategic growth. Born in Cherbourg, Normandy in 1968, Faury brings a unique combination of engineering expertise, operational excellence, and visionary leadership to one of the world's most complex industrial organizations. As a qualified light-aircraft pilot and helicopter flight-test engineer with over 1,300 flying hours, he maintains an intimate connection to the aviation industry he leads. Under his leadership, Airbus has navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic while positioning the company at the forefront of sustainable aviation through ambitious hydrogen aircraft development and increased sustainable aviation fuel usage. Faury's strategic vision emphasizes European industrial cooperation, having stated that 'when we work together, not against each other in Europe, we can achieve the scale needed to become global leaders.' His leadership philosophy combines technical excellence with commercial pragmatism, driving Airbus toward its next-generation single-aisle aircraft program while maintaining production targets of 75 A320neo family aircraft per month by 2027. Beyond Airbus, Faury serves as President of both GIFAS (French aerospace industries association) and the Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe, positioning him as a key voice in shaping the future of European aerospace and defense policy. His commitment to sustainability is evident in Airbus's ZeroE hydrogen aircraft program, targeting the world's first commercial hydrogen-powered aircraft by 2035, though he maintains a realistic approach to the regulatory and infrastructure challenges ahead.
