Biography
Dr. Dominik von Achten serves as Chairman of the Managing Board (CEO) of Heidelberg Materials AG, one of the world's largest building materials companies with nearly 150 years of history. Since assuming leadership in February 2020, he has demonstrated exceptional strategic acumen, driving the company to record financial performance while pioneering sustainability initiatives in the cement and concrete industry. Under his leadership, Heidelberg Materials achieved record revenue of €21.2 billion in 2024 with result from current operations climbing to €3.2 billion, while maintaining a strong return on invested capital of approximately 10%. Von Achten's strategic vision encompasses comprehensive digital transformation and decarbonization efforts, positioning Heidelberg Materials as a global leader in sustainable building materials. His commitment to environmental stewardship is exemplified by the company's development of evoZero®, the world's first carbon captured net-zero cement, and achieving over one-third of revenue from sustainable products under the evoBuild® brand. In June 2025, he was elected President of the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA), succeeding Fernando Gonzalez and reinforcing his industry leadership in driving the ambitious 2050 net zero roadmap.
