Dr. Christoph Jurecka serves as Chief Financial Officer and member of the Board of Management at Munich Reinsurance Company, the world's largest reinsurer, since January 2019. In July 2025, he was appointed to succeed Dr. Joachim Wenning as Chairman of the Board of Management (CEO), effective January 1, 2026, positioning him to lead one of the global financial services industry's most prestigious institutions through its next phase of growth and transformation. Born in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany in 1974, Dr. Jurecka exemplifies the modern insurance executive who combines deep technical expertise with exceptional financial acumen. His unique educational background includes a diploma in technical physics from the Technical University of Graz, Austria (1998), followed by a PhD in theoretical physics from the Technical University of Braunschweig (2001), providing him with analytical rigor that has proven invaluable in navigating complex financial and risk management challenges. His expertise was further honed during his tenure at AXA Group, serving as Chief Risk Officer at AXA Konzern AG and later as CFO and Board member at AXA Switzerland. As CFO of ERGO Group AG from 2011 to 2019, Dr. Jurecka established his reputation as a transformational finance leader, overseeing strategic planning, risk management, and financial communications for Munich Re's primary insurance subsidiary. His appointment to Munich Re's Board of Management as Group CFO in 2019 marked his elevation to the apex of global reinsurance leadership.
