Proximus Group (formerly known as Belgacom Group until 2015) is Belgium's largest telecommunications company and a leading provider of future-proof connectivity, IT, and digital services throughout the Benelux region. Headquartered in Brussels, the company has deep roots in Belgian telecommunications history dating back to 1879 when telephone services were first installed in the Belgian parliament. The modern company took shape on July 1, 1994, when Belgacom launched the Proximus mobile network through its subsidiary Belgacom Mobile. In April 2015, shareholders approved the transformation from Belgacom to Proximus, reflecting the company's evolution into a comprehensive digital services provider. The Belgian State owns 53.51% of Proximus Group as of December 2023, with the company holding 4.56% treasury shares and 41.93% freely trading on Euronext Brussels. Proximus is investing heavily in network infrastructure, rolling out fiber-to-the-home across Belgium with plans to achieve 95% national coverage by 2032.
